HUGE congratulations to Shrewsbury Up and Comers FC for being awarded a highly prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Services, one of 281 UK community voluntary organisations to have been honoured with a King’s Award this year and the FIRST EVER football club in Shropshire to receive one. 👑🏆
They have been recognised not only for the exceptional and outstanding work that they do for grassroots football and the community in Shropshire, but their whole ethos.
It has been an inspirational journey for the club over the past 20 years and Passmaster is very proud to have played a part in that journey over nearly 12 years, providing expert coaching through the Tuesday night and Saturday morning Kickers Clubs that we run in partnership with Up and Comers FC. ⚽️
These sessions, for 4 to 7-year-olds, lay the foundations and inspire young children to fall in love with the game of football. They are open to both boys and girls. We run girls only training sessions too.
Our Kicker Clubs regularly accommodate more than 100 children. They usually train with us for 3 years, many of them going on to join Up and Comers’ teams.
The club has quadrupled in size since it was founded around 50 years ago. It now has 47 teams, 670 players - from children right up to seniors - and 190 coaches.
Passmaster director Steve Green said: “As a professional observer, I have seen the club recruit, train, support and retrain many volunteers, inspiring some to become professionals in the sports sector. It’s a credit to the organisation. Working closely with such an ambitious, forward-thinking group is a privilege and pleasure, and we wish them every success in their efforts to be a shining light of hope and inspiration in the community.”
Club Chairman Simon Lee said Passmaster had played a big part in the growth and success of the club through the Saturday morning and Tuesday evening training sessions.
